Above the not-very-fruited plains; but rather, more of a river.
An acrylic painting I've been working on for a while now; I actually do a surprising amount of acrylic work, I just like never post them. But, yeah, my last one got a great response, so I guess I'll post them more often.
The main thing I was trying to capture here was a good sense of light; and I think it turned out really well. I think, with my digital stuff, I just need to be more patient.
So, hope ya like it.
Acrylic on Canvas, probably around 12 hours of work, with minor color adjustments in photoshop, nothing huge.
Glad you like the rough and soft textures; the clouds were like sooooo rough when I first started, I had to pretty much paint entirely over them. I guess that's what I get for using a fan brush for clouds, lol.

I like fan brushes for choppy stuff like trees and grass; and flat brushes for smooth and broken-up-texture. I actually did the puffy clouds by painting the colors on the canvas, very wetly, and then blending with my finger.

Aaah, I should really start some acrylic/other painting projects... I spent a whole shitload of money on oil painting supplies for a class but I only produced two decent paintings from it, and every time I get dragged on one of my friends 'Let's go to <insert art supply store here>' trips, I end up buying a canvas or two DX... But I never know what to paint! Maybe I should just print out a random landscape and have at it... Any suggestions?
(PS: Beautiful painting here, particularly the sky and mountains. Your brush strokes make it look like pastel or coloured pencils, but it's lovely.)

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
