2 hour and 20 minute speedpaint.

And... oh... my gosh... that was the most fun 2 hours and 20 minutes I've had in a loooooong time. xD

I'm really getting in to this whole speedpainting thing; and I'll most likely be doing it waaaay more often from now on. It's like so much fun, and I learned so much while doing it, and it doesn't take forever and a half. It just doesn't get any better than that. xD

But, yeah, it was way fun, and I'm also really happy with the final result. I think I'm really getting the hang of light and color and stuff. Yay! 8D

I used like a really fun technique too (Which I stole from the god of speedpainters: *leventep) where I started off with a photo, just scribbled on it for a while, and then gradually started refining shapes and forms as I started to see them. It's so fun because you don't know what the final piece will look like, so you don't even have to spend time deciding what to paint. xD (The original photo I used can be found here)

Aaah.... I love speedpainting...

You know my initial reaction to this was "damn," and it pretty much still is. The palette is very soothing and united, with lovely variations in hue and saturation that help to bring the eye to the focal point. It's a bit static in that the eye doesn't go back to other areas, which is disappointing since there's so much wonderful detail in the shrubbery and trees. The atmosphere is great; there's certainly as thick a fog rolling in as there is here right now.

My major gripe with this, and sorry for not bringing it up before, is that the road looks more like a muddy river. I had thought you would add more pebbley texture to it. Right now, it's very flat and looks to have ripples, like a waterway. For it to be a road it should be uneven, lower in places that have more traffic or water erosion, and higher at the sides. I also think that adding some red hues to it would add nice colour contrast, though that could just be me and my preference for red soil (check out PEI). You really need to do away with that sort of scribble texture, too.

Other than that, the other components - rocks and trees and trees and rocks etc - are rendered well enough to be convincing in this piece. :) Great work!

Wow, such an ordinary photograph turned into something so... well, mystical, I guess 8D. I keep scrolling up to look at it, lawl~. I love how magical and early-morning it looks, the trees fading into the brightness and all... Yea I suck at commenting like that, I'm sorry XD.

Good work .

Never say, "I can't." Instead ask yourself, "how can I?".

I think this is really fabulous, especially for that small amount of time! All those details and wonder natural elements really stack up..and you learned a bunch, too, which is always the point to speed painting anyway. That, and to hone in on your skills and realize concepts...and I think you did that perfectly here! Superb work!

Huh, Apparently you need to be a paid member to give crits.

It looks good, however, I notice there appears to be two rows of rocks, which seems to be out of place on something that should likely be more randomly distributed.

It's official.
I hate you and your talent.
I'm going to invent a machine that steals all the artsy bits of your brain and turns them into an energy drink which will give me all your know-how!

The piece is really great! It looks watercoloury to me, or like the background for a scene in a Disney movie or something!

Yeaaah, the new critique system is pretty weird. Guess dA needs more subscribers. xD

And, yeah, I have no idea how I didn't see those rocks until now. xD *Composition fail*

Thank ye. :3
