Gayest title..... ever.
But, yeah, I was like really bored; and I haven't painted in weeks, so I was definitely in the mood. So after attempting a really complex sketch and failing miserably, I doodled about aimlessly until it turned in to something I liked, at which point I painted it, and this is the result. xD A dandytastic, totally original, blood elf mage from WoW....... naked...... getting high off magic..... Fun fun. 8D It's probably one of my better portraits, and I think I'm getting better at anatomy and form.... slowly, but surely. I think my weakest part of portraiture at this point is the eyes... I can't seem to get the shape of them and the eyelids right. I think my work is getting less forced, though, and more natural looking.  Well, I think it came out pretty sweet really! I'm just starting in on digital painting and I know how difficult it can be. I like the concept and theme quite a bit and lots of magic and stuff is always great for the win. Nice whiskers and ears and eyes...it gives him some character and isn't stereotypical at all! yeah, the anatomy is definitely getting better, although the eyes seem pretty unproportional... however, the piece is a nice mix of ideas and nice drawing/shading which make it look cool! just a note... maybe you haven't noted... the eyebrows (which are LOL btw) are disappearing the next they go... the left eyebrow is gradually changing the opacity so the background is visible through it... and I hope that's not what you want! however, nice piece! -- Giovanny iz in d haus!!! Therefore, I always win if I make my art shiny.  -- Never say, "I can't." Instead ask yourself, "how can I?". Thanks very much! And, yeah, I think the eyes might be a bit too close together. Eyes are such a pain to get right. xD
And I totally missed that issue with the eyebrow, lol. Though it's not caused by the eyebrows opacity, but I forgot to erase the magic on top of it. xD -- Never say, "I can't." Instead ask yourself, "how can I?". You used up all your NAtural 20s with that ice cloud.

well, I actually thought that it was because of the pen pressure... I usually tend to get that kind of effect because I paint with the pen pressure turned on... and then you get that fading effect... but of course, it's easily correctable! -- Giovanny iz in d haus!!! I really like this style. It's dark, but vibrant, and it's sort of nice to see an elf looking masculine. He's got amazingly detailed and great facial hair! There is something off about the eyes and nose relationship, but I love the glowing green eyes, the detailed hair, and textured background! This is great stuff! -- I like the idea of chocolate cake better than the cake itself. |

Critiques
As for anatomy, I think the nose might be a little short. Also, his neck looks just a tad too long and the hair looks kinda scribly. I like the shape of the hair and the way it flows but Im not sure if it suits his character so much. Im not sure if that makes sense or not!!
Anyway, I still think its really good and very well painted ^_^ Im really liking the way you shade and the smoothness of the skin.
