Like freaking whoah. I started and
finished something in the same day. That like... never happens. xDD
Buut, anywho, here's the next installment of my Zerg series. The almighty Drone, responsible for constructing all Zerg structures and harvesting minerals to build them with; truly the backbone of all Zerg life, except the Zerg probably don't have backbones.
I'm really, really happy with how this one turned out. I think I'm finally starting to figure out this stupid-butt style I've been working on for like a month. My main issue was using too many shadows and highlights, not enough midtones. Like I would have almost pure white cover like half the skin; when it should really be way darker with a few pure white specks. But, I think I'm finally starting to kick that awful habit, and get in to a more realistic rendering style.
I had a lot of fun with the details, too, and I think this one is a huge step up from the Larvae. The main thing I think I did better is not just scribble in details, but rather have the details follow a specific form to maintain the overall shape. Though I do think I need to work a bit more on shading the overall form, but I'll get there eventually. At this rate, I'll probably be like some crazy master mofo concept artist by the time I'm finished with this series... except I won't, because art never ends!! Stupid art!!!
So, I hope you like it. Feel free to critique if you see any issues or have any suggestions, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Oh, and I've also got a special surprise for you guys who like to see WIPs, which I shall hopefully release tomorow.
