Biome: Hot Deserts by Andantonius Biome: Hot Deserts by Andantonius
:iconsovereignstates:

Habitability: Low
Latitude Range: 0 - 40
Altitude Range: -200m - 2000m
Annual Precipitation: 1-250mm
Summer High Temperature: 42C (daytime)
Winter Low Temperature: 0C (nighttime)
Common Landmarks: Dunes, hoodoos, canyons, arroyos
Common Flora: Succulents, shrubs
Common Fauna: lizards, snakes, rodents

Deserts are dry and have extreme temperature variances from day to night. Much of its surface is covered in rock and sand, into shapes formed by wind and, sometimes, water. Plant life may be nonexistent in some areas but thrive in others, such as over an aquifer. All life is adapted to conserve moisture, and most animals are nocturnal to avoid the heat of day. Precipitation is rare and tends to come in flash floods, which can drastically alter the land by carving arroyos and canyons.

Landscape speedpaint done for =CrowbarTK-Hullo's upcoming worldbuilding tournament #SovereignStates. It's gonna be pretty much awesome; it's all about developing a civilization from the ground up in a realistic fashion and conquering all others in one way or another. Be sure to check it out, auditions open up next week!

this reminds me of that refreshing relief as the day winds down and the first (relatively) cool winds of night come as the sun sets in the desert ^^
