I have found..... my style. *Collapses*

Well, I've officially given up using layers. I now really, in every sense of the phrase, digitally paint; and it's great! It's much more free, I think; working with layers is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, except you have to paint the pieces yourself. It's just a lot of unnecessary technical hassle, I think.

So, I think I'm finally discovering my own personal style, and I like it. Muahahaha!

Aight, enough of that. This is my entry for Crocofielius' October Contest. I was originally intending to do a fox standing there just being cute, or something, but today I was just walking around when suddenly this composition just popped into my head, and I just had to paint it.

So, I hope you like it, Croco! :D (Though I'm probably not going to get any points for realism; this thing's like... a giant blob of Linear Dodge. XD)

I still need to work on doing mountains digitally; it's hard to get the right texture. With acrylic I can use a pallete knife, or scrape a flat brush, for a really good texture, but digital's a little trickier because it doesn't have that varying shape of moving bristles. But oh well, it turned out alright nonetheless.

Never say, "I can't." Instead ask yourself, "how can I?".
Ye gads that's pretty DD8 1 layer?! You craaazzyyy. I just love the textures, and the colours are beautifully harmonic and natural =w= The little details like the scratches on the trunks of the trees really make the image. The lighting is gorgeous, too. Heck, the whole thing is stunning *w*

Bwah! Thanks. XD

And, yeah, one layer. It's just like painting traditionally; and I think it's much more efficient. Normally my finished pieces take like 12 hours to do, this one only took 3, and the only difference I can really see is the lack of a human being, a lack of base-colors, and a lack of layers.

I think the layers add so much time because, say, if I had a tree layer, I would have to paint the edge of the tree absolutely perfectly for layers below it to display properly. But if the tree and everything behind it are on the same layer, I can just quickly paint in a little color to fix up the edge. So it removes the entire hassle of getting clean edges, which are necessary for line less work.

Glad you like the colors, too. I tried a totally different style of colors (Start off with a black and white value paintsketch, then use a brush set to, "Color", then add variation and detail on top.), and I think it really unifies everything quite nicely.

Thankies for the comment. >w<
